イベント体験記事：声優杉田智和が日本の伝統文化の舞台を変えた奇跡の1日
– A miraculous day when voice actor Tomokazu Sugita changed the stage for traditional Japanese culture
杉田智和さんが、600年以上継承されている日本の古典芸能である能の舞台に登壇し、杉田ワールドを披露するという前代未聞のイベントが開催されました。
In an unprecedented event, Tomokazu Sugita took the stage to perform Noh, a classic Japanese performing art that has been passed down for more than 600 years, to showcase the Sugita World.
能は独特な空間の中でくり広げられる世界一長い歴史を誇る日本の由緒正しい演劇です。
しかし、その能の舞台に破天荒でドエムなキャラクターとして多くの声優ファン達等から愛されている杉田智和さんが参戦するというではありませんか。
Noh is a venerable Japanese art form with the longest history in the world, performed in a unique space.
However, Tomokazu Sugita, who is loved by voice actors fans for his DoM(he enjoys being made fun of) and unpredictable character, will be taking part in the Noh play.
全く想像がつかないこのイベントはどんな結末を迎えたのか。
果たして、杉田智和さんは彼を全く知らない方にも受け入れられたのか。
これから、その奇跡のイベントを紹介していきます。

●能とは？
まず、能について簡単に説明しますね。
What is Noh?
First, let me briefly explain about Noh.
能は日本の古典芸能の１つで、ミュージカルやオペラに近い位置の劇であり、世界でもっとも長い演劇の歴史と伝統をもっています。
Noh is one of Japan’s classical performing arts, a play similar in position to musicals and opera, and has the longest theatrical history and tradition in the world.
舞踊と音楽を中心とし「謡（うたい）」という声楽と「囃子（はやし）」という楽器演奏に乗せて、舞踏的な動きで物語を進めてゆきます。
The story is told through dance and music, accompanied by vocal music called “utai” and instrumental music called “hayashi,” and is performed with butoh-like movements.
またもう一つの魅力が、仮面（能面）です。
こちらが、その仮面の一例になります。
Another attraction is the masks (Noh masks).

●イベントの内容は？
What was in the event?
こちらは、能の演目を声優や俳優が先に朗読し、その後に実際の能の舞台が披露されるシリーズもののイベントです。
今回は朗読のパートで杉田智和さんが「能装束」という能で使用される衣装をまとい、音楽の演出と共に能の内容を朗読しました。
以前、彼はイベントの中で着物を着てアフレコを披露した事があるのですが（アニメ銀魂のイベントの時には演じられている役の坂田銀時さんのお召し物を着られていました）、その時の登場シーンは私達が知っているいつもの「杉田智和」でした。
This is a series of events in which a Noh play is recited first by a voice actor or actor, followed by a performance of the actual Noh play.
This time, Tomokazu Sugita read from a Noh play with music and costumes called “Noh-shozoku ” (formal noh performed in full costume) for the reading part.
He had previously performed a voice-actor in a kimono at an event (he wore the costume of Gintoki Sakata, the character he plays in the anime Gintama), but the scene in which he appeared was the usual “Tomokazu Sugita” we all know and love.
しかし今回の衣装は「能装束」と呼ばれより固くビシッとした衣装を着ていた為、彼は登場シーンから最後までしっかりと背筋を伸ばしいつもと全く違う背格好をしていました。
その登場シーンがこちらになります。
However, this time he was dressed in a “Noh-shozoku “, which is more rigid and formal, and he stood up straight and looked completely different from usual from the beginning to the end of the scene.

そしてこちらが朗読中の杉田智和さんの姿です。

背筋がしっかりと伸びていて、その風格からは室町時代から伝わる「能」への敬意と彼の演者としてのオーラを感じ取る事ができました。
He stood tall and sturdy, and from his demeanor I could sense his respect for Noh, which has been handed down since the Muromachi period, and his aura as a performer.
舞台の定位置（朗読をする場所は予め決まっています）に着いた彼は、朗読の台本を開いたのですがその台本も私達が見慣れている台本の形と違い、江戸時代以前を彷彿とさせる形の台本となっていました。
それだけでも別次元の世界に居るような感覚を感じていましたが、彼の人を魅了して止まないあの奥深い声でゆっくり、ゆっくりと私を「能」の世界にいざなってくれました。
When he arrived at his position on the stage (the place for the reading is decided in advance), he opened the script for the reading, which was different from what we are used to and reminiscent of the pre-Edo period.
I felt as if I was in a different dimension, and his deep and captivating voice slowly and deliberately led me into the world of “Noh“.
●気になる内容は？-Its contents are??
内容はここでは公開しませんが、簡単に言うと「業、悲しみ、悪」といった感情を朗読劇の登場人物の行動から学ぶ、という内容です。
大変趣のある内容となっていて、「業とは、悲しみとは、悪とは何か？」という人間の本性について深く考えさせられました。
The content will not be disclosed here, but in a nutshell, it is about learning about emotions such as karma, sadness, and evil through the actions of the characters in the readings.
The content is very atmospheric and made us think deeply about human nature, “What is karma, sadness, and evil?”
●能の舞台の上でも杉田智和は杉田智和！-Tomokazu Sugita is Tomokazu Sugita even on the Noh stage!
朗読パートが終わり、休憩を挟んだ後に能楽師の宝生流第二十代宗家・宝生和英さん、そして脚本を担当された石原燃さんと杉田智和さんが先程まで朗読されていた内容についてフリートークをするコーナーが始まりました。
After the reading part was over and a short break, Noh performer Hosho-Ryū,20th-Originator (So-ke) ,Kazufusa Hosho, the scriptwriter, Nen Ishihara(@nenishihara) and Tomokazu Sugita, began a free talk session about what had just been read.
「流石にこの舞台の上では杉田智和ワールドは封印するだろう」を思っていた私でしたが、見事に裏切られました。
最初は今回のテーマの１つ「悪」について自身の考えを司会の方から求められ際に、真面目に「悪は人の心持次第。誰でも悪を心に宿せてしまう」と回答されました。
大変奥深い回答です。
一時期お坊さんを目指していた事がある彼だからこそ、この様な回答が出てきたのだと思いました。
そして彼はこう続けました。
「ただ僕は昔から悪が主人公のゲームを愛用していたので悪が悪いと思って居ない部分もあります。人によって解釈は色々あると思いますが、僕がそれ（人の心が悪を生む）を感じたエピソードとして、うちの実家の話があるんですよ。
実家には（時々ラジオ番組でも話しているので知っている方も多いと思いますが）犬と変わった祖父が住んでいまして。実家は田舎だから、色々な意味で結束力があるんですよ。例えば回覧板がうちの家にだけ回ってこなくて。
それで不思議に思い、隣の子から回覧板を奪ったら「「杉田智和のじーさんは変人だから回すな！」」と書いてあった。」
杉田智和さんの話術と、彼の実家の犬、そしてこの彼を超えるユニークなおじいさん。
その様子を頭に浮かべながらそのトークを聞いていた私や周りの人達は大笑いをしました。
I had thought that “Tomokazu Sugita’s world would be sealed off on this stage”, but was pleasantly surprised to find that I was wrong.
At first, when the moderator asked Tomokazu Sugita what he thought about one of the themes of the show, “Evil,” he answered seriously,
“Evil depends on the mind of a person.Evil depends on people’s mind, and everyone has evil in their heart.”
This is a very profound answer.
I thought that he was able to come up with such an answer because he had once aspired to become a monk.
He continued,
“I have always been a fan of games in which evil is the main character, so I don’t think evil is bad. I know there are many interpretations, but there is a story about my parents’ house that I felt that evil is born out of the human heart.
In my parents’ house (which many of you may know because I talk about it on my radio show from time to time), there lived a dog and an unusual grandfather.
My parents’ house is in the countryside, so we were united in many ways.
For example, the circulars were not circulated only to our house.
So I wondered why, and when I took the circular from the neighbor’s kid, it said, “”Tomokazu Sugita’s grandfather is a weirdo, so don’t turn it in!””
I and the people around me laughed a lot as I listened to that talk with this situation in my mind.
そしてその後も杉田智和ワールドは止まる事無く、某電気屋さんのプラモデルの話になったりと、彼がトークをしている場所が「能」の舞台である事を忘れさせられてしまう程楽しいお話が続きました。
The world of Tomokazu Sugita never stopped, and he went on to talk about plastic models from a certain electronics store, and so on.
The conversation was so enjoyable that it made me forget that the place where he was giving his talk was a “Noh” stage.
そのお話の後、司会の方は脚本家の方にも意見を求められたのですが、彼女が杉田智和ワールドに圧倒されフリーズしてしまった際には「先生、僕を殺してください」とすかさず「ドエム杉田智和ワールド」を入れてきました。
フリートークの最後は司会の方がしっかりと閉めて下さったので、次のパートである実際の俳優さん（能楽師の方々）による「能」のコーナーに心落ち着かせ入っていくことができました。
After that talk, the moderator also asked the scriptwriter for her opinion, but she was overwhelmed by Tomokazu Sugita’s world and froze.
So Tomokazu Sugita quickly put in the “DoM Tomokazu Sugita World” by saying
“Nen-san, please kill me.”
The moderator firmly closed the end of the free talk, so I was able to calmly enter the next part of the program, a “Noh” section featuring actual actors (Noh performers).
●イベントを終えて-After the event
杉田智和さんの朗読、俳優さん達の演技、そして音楽を奏でる方々が創り出して下さった最高の空間を観劇する事ができ、本当に幸せでした。
杉田智和さんの朗読で一度「能」の世界にいざなわれ、杉田智和ワールドで現代に戻ってきて、その後の実際の「能」の世界に触れる事で日常の謙遜から解き放たれる事が出来、とても素晴らしい体験をする事ができました。
何故この「能」がこれだけの歴史の中で愛されてきたのか、参考に「ポッドキャスト（夜能ラジオ）」※で語られた内容を参考に書いておきますね。
“日本は島国で災害が多くて戦争があっても逃げられないという事で少し悲観的な（落ち着こうとする）芸能であり、この考えが日本人の性格と相性が良い部分が大きいからだと思いました。
海外でいうところの教会の「ミサ」が近いかもしれません。”
I was very happy to be able to see the play in this wonderful space created by Tomokazu Sugita’s reading, the actors’ performances, and the people who played the music.
I was transported once into the world of “Noh” by Tomokazu Sugita’s reading, then back into the world of Tomokazu Sugita, and then back into the actual world of “Noh”, where I was able to be freed from the humility of everyday life. It, it was a wonderful experience.
I would like to write down for your reference why this “Noh” has been loved so much throughout its history, based on what was said in the “podcast (Ya-Noh Radio)”. ※
“I thought it was because Japan is an island country and has many disasters, and it is a performing art that is a little pessimistic (trying to calm down) because it is impossible to escape from a war, and this idea is compatible with the Japanese character in large part.
It might be similar to what we call ‘mass’ in churches overseas.”
そんな「能」と「杉田智和ワールド」がこんなにも相性が良いとは思いませんでした。
また観客席では面白い光景も。
私の前の席に2名の女性が座っていたのですが1名がお着物を召されている初老の女性。そのお隣が杉田智和さん犬のキーホルダーを持っているガチ杉田智和ファンの女性。
その初老の女性がガチ杉田智和ファンの女性の方とお互いの好きな事をお話されていました。若い女性は杉田智和さんの良さ。そして初老の女性は能の楽しみ方。
こんな光景、能の席で見る事が出来る日が来るなんて思いませんでした。
I had no idea that such “Noh” and “Tomokazu Sugita’s World” would go so well together.
There was also an interesting scene in the audience.
There were two women sitting in front of me, one of them an elderly woman wearing a kimono. Next to her was a woman with a Tomokazu Sugita dog keychain, who was a serious Tomokazu Sugita fan.
The elderly woman was talking with the woman, who was a serious Tomokazu Sugita fan, about what they liked about each other. The younger woman said how good Tomokazu Sugita is.
And the older woman talked about how to enjoy Noh.
I never thought I would see such a scene at a Noh performance.
